Our kitten wellness visits are designed to give your kitten the best possible start in life. The first few months are a critical time for growth and development, and we’re here to provide guidance on nutrition, litter box training, behavior, and overall health to help your kitten grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult cat.
We recommend scheduling your kitten’s first veterinary exam as soon as possible. Until a full vaccine series is completed, kittens are vulnerable to several serious but preventable diseases. During these early visits, we will vaccinate your kitten against Rabies, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia. We may recommend the Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) vaccine or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and FeLV testing, based on lifestyle and risk factors. Follow-up booster vaccines are due 3–4 weeks after initial vaccines and we will create a schedule to ensure their a fully protected.
Most kittens are born with some type of intestinal parasite, which is why we recommend running an intestinal parasite test at their first veterinary visit. We can send stool samples to a reference laboratory to screen for common parasites such as roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia, and Giardia.
These parasites may cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, a potbellied appearance, poor appetite, or a dull hair coat—although many kittens show no signs at all. Once identified, most intestinal parasites are simple to treat with appropriate medications and follow-up testing to ensure the infection has cleared, helping keep both your kitten and your household healthy.
Each visit includes vaccinations to protect against serious, preventable diseases, a nail trim, broad-spectrum de-wormer, a nose to tail exam and lots of snuggles!
