At Emeryville Animal Hospital, we use diagnostics as an important component of your pet’s overall care. By using various diagnostic procedures, we can accurately identify a wide range of problems, including interior abnormalities which might otherwise remain hidden below the surface of the skin. It is our aim to make your pet’s surgery less traumatic and complicated, and to reduce the amount of stress for both of you.
We provide a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic services that include:
- Fecal checks
- Allergy tests
Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)
At Emeryville Animal Hospital we use digital X-rays instead of traditional radiographic film. Digital X-rays enable us to manipulate the image in ways that can improve our ability to make a diagnosis. In addition, these images can be saved as part of the patient’s computerized medical record and be sent by e-mail to a specialist for further evaluation. We can also provide these records to the client for their own personal files.
This routine procedure can provide us with immediate information about your pet’s health and can be used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures to get to the full scope of your pet’s illness or trauma.
At Emeryville Animal Hospital, we want to make sure that we have all the answers to your pet’s health problems before undertaking a course of action. In order to do this, we have state-of-the-art equipment located within our hospital that can run a wide variety of tests. This immediate access to lab equipment allows us to run urine, blood, and fecal tests to give us rapid results regarding your pets health.
This equipment is also used for pre-surgical testing. The equipment provides us with quick results so that we know whether it is safe to sedate your pet prior to surgery. We will not sedate your pet until we know it is safe to do so.
For more difficult testing, or to do tests that look for more uncommon abnormalities we use an accredited outside lab. We outsource our lab testing only when needed on more complicated cases.
When the pet members of your family are sick, we know that it is important to make sure they get quality care as quickly as possible. We are very happy to answer any questions you may have and to ease your concerns during urgent care situations.
At Emeryville Animal Hospital, we offer ultrasounds daily. We use ultrasonography to examine the abdominal organs, the ear, the eyes, and other soft tissues to detect injuries or signs of disease. This non-invasive procedure provides us with 3-dimensional images of your pet’s internal anatomy, allowing us to see problems in areas that we cannot detect externally.
